Culinary Skills - Certificate

This two-day-a-week course is ideal for individuals seeking to launch their careers in this dynamic industry. Designed for beginners, the course offers a comprehensive introduction to food and beverage service, covering all the essential skills and knowledge needed to succeed. You'll learn the fundamentals of the industry, from customer service to food safety, while developing the key skills employers seek in future staff. Whether you’re aiming for an apprenticeship, further training, or immediate employment, this course will give you the foundation to thrive and progress in the world of hospitality.

  • Food Safety
  • Food Preparation
  • Kitchen Equipment
  • Food allergies and intolerance
  • Fish, meat and vegetable cookery

  • What you will study

    You will be required to attend regular sessions in our on-site realistic working environment, in our BR6/The Bakehouse restaurant. You will serve real customers and be observed completing a variety of tasks to check competency under controlled conditions.

  • Entry Requirements
    • Be over 19
    • There are no entry requirements, but if you don’t have any qualifications, you will be asked to take an English and maths test.
  • Assessment

    You will be assessed through a range of practical assessment techniques, observations, assignments and online examinations

  • Moving Forward

    You will be able to progress onto further education or go into employment

  • Delivery

    This course is taught on Greenwich Campus on Tuesday and Thursdays 5.30pm - 8.30pm

  • Cost and Loans

    You will be expected to purchase your own course materials, Chef's kitchen equipment, uniform and text books
